In term four Bossy will be hosting regular letter exchange clubs.
What is a letter exchange club?
Essentially, you stop by, write an anonymous letter with the funky supplied materials, put it in the IN mailbox and take a letter from the OUT mailbox. In your own time you can open the letter you take with you – there is a 100 per cent chance it will put a smile on your face.
Isn’t this kind of dorky?
Your feelings are understandable, although misplaced. The first time our editor-in-chief participated in a letter exchange club she too had her doubts, but she participated anyway. When she put the little envelope in her pocket and proceeded to head home on her bike, she felt an overwhelming feeling of anticipation and excitement wash over her. She could wait any longer so she pulled over on the side of the road and opened her letter. What was inside was simple, but she recalls that she couldn’t stop smiling and thinking about it all day. It made her day a little bit brighter, and that is what we are offering to you.
How long will it take?
By our estimate, you could be in and out in about 10 minutes.
I am not good at writing letters, what if I don’t know what to say?
There will be little guides and fun prompt to help you out with any writer’s block.
Will there be glitter pens?
Yes, and lots and lots of stickers.
Will there be snacks?
Yes, and we will cater for all dietary requirements.
Can everyone attend?
These events will be autonomous. You can only attend if you are a women-identifying, non-binary, femme-aligned or genderqueer* ANU student, staff member or alumna.
Is there anything else you can tell me?
This is a great opportunity to meet some cool humans, and to get to know the Bossy team if contributing or getting involved interests you.
