The Club

The Club is designed to be the leading multi-use, mid-sized venue in Canberra. The customised building in a $7m village, central location, quality equipment, experienced management and captive audiences make this an unparalleled presentation space for the city. Accepted events will pay a very reasonable price for an excellent outcome.

  • Capacity to accommodate up to 312 people plus bar area, verandha and smoking area with various furniture configurations.
  • Green room beside stage.
  • Stage: 450mm high, 8m deep, 4m wide with curved front. Extendable by 1m either side.
  • Vast trussing throughout venue.
  • Rectangular room with stage on one end, lots of windows and trees on each side, and a bar room beside the entrance. Lots of food options in surrounding village.
  • Bar can open til 2am, venue can remain open upon negotiation. 
  • Located under the trees of University Avenue, Canberra City.

Technical Provision

A significant PA, stage and basic lighting system is part of the hire. House technicians are required for events requiring more than 2x wireless microphones and 2 direct inputs (DJ, for example). 

Venue Deals

External venue hire: $489 per night. This includes the technical equipment listed below, cleaning, marketing support and furniture configuration.

ANU staff or students are able to hire the space without charge if the event:

  • Expects more than 120 people (with good reasons), and
  • Is not on Friday or Saturday evening/night, and
  • Is not during lunch, unless it is a background music session, and
  • Relates to the university, including as a social, learning or club-focused activity, and
  • Does not clash with other events.

Possible extras:

  • Technicians: $65 per hour, min 3 hours. House audio tech required for events with more than 2 mics and 2 DIs.
  • Security: $45 per hour, min 3 hours, requirements vary according to nature of event.
  • Door staff: $30 per hour, min 3 hours.
  • Sales staff: $30 per hour, min 3 hours.
  • Furniture configuration and resetting: $25 per hour, min 2 people for 2 hours. It may be negotiated for hirers to move furniture themselves.
  • Elite Event Technology is the exclusive provider of equipment other than instruments.
  • No commission on merch sales.

MOLO Live is the licenced liquor operator for the whole Pop-Up Village.

Marketing support for events

The place-manager will work with all promoters to support the successful promotion of their event. This includes talk to people about the upcoming events in person, sharing useful contacts to the promoter and rolling out supplied press content in the following channels:

  • Website listing
  • Social media support (Pop-Up at ANU):
    • Facebook event or co-presentation of event with promoter
    • Facebook posts in lead up to event
    • Twitter posts
    • Instagram posts
  • Cross-promotion opportunities with ANU social media and communications (depending on nature of event)
  • Opportunities for coverage by ANU student-run media – e.g. Woroni newspaper, Woroni radio, ANU Observer
  • Listings in local event directories – BMA, Canberra Times, OutInCanberra, Visit Canberra
  • Assistance with attracting local press coverage
  • Display and distribution of promotional material at venue (supplied by booker) such as posters, flyers and coasters.
